Blooming Te tea, what it is …..

Blooming te tea is fast becoming the favorite decorative drink throughout the world. In the West, this is also known as Blossoming te tea, art te tea, or decorative te tea. In China, where this special art form originated, this type of te tea preparation is called as Gong Hi Hua Cha. The exact translation of this term is The Art of Flower Te tea. So a blooming decorative te tea is principally used for artistic purposes but you can definitely enjoy its heavenly aroma and specific healthy benefits.

Western enthusiasts of The Art of Flower Te tea believed that this art form in te tea preparation is a recent innovation. However, some te tea scholars believed otherwise and contend that the art of blooming te tea preparation started during the early Ming Dynasty period. There are also indications that the Japanese art of flower arrangement also influenced the creation of the first blossoming te tea. Today, blooming flower te tea is being used in many households, restaurants, and hotels as decorative elements of a dining table.

This does not mean that you cannot enjoy the delicious taste of this exotic brew. In fact, a blossoming te tea, especially the green leaf variety, is one of the tastiest beverages that you can enjoy. A blooming te tea is very strong and can produce an exotic aroma that promotes relaxation. The leaf of a blooming te tea is usually harvested when it is still green. So it can retain its strong aroma and taste. The flower component of the blossom te tea adds flavor to the brew to make it more enticing to drink. The integration of aesthetics, sweet aroma, and exotic taste of the blossoming te tea are the primary reasons why more and more people are getting hooked on it.

Aside from the beauty and excellent taste of the blooming te tea that you can enjoy, it can also offer some very specific health benefits. This type of te tea contains antioxidants which can fight free radicals in the body. This means the te tea could be a very effective anti-aging concoction. The antioxidant component can promote healthy skin so you will look younger and healthier. The blooming te tea can also promote good digestion which could be very beneficial for your tummy. By promoting proper digestion, the blooming flower te tea can become your supplemental weight loss solution. Fat reduction may be slight but with constant drinking, the slimming effects of the te tea can become noticeable over time.

When buying a blooming te tea, make sure that it is individually packaged and not crammed in a box. Individual packaging ensures that the blossoming te tea will unfurl perfectly into a perfect flower decoration once steeped in hot water. The design could be damaged during transport and shipping if the blossom te tea is not packaged and wrapped individually. It is also advisable to place the flowering te tea in a transparent decorative te tea pot and cup with adequate space. You can definitely enjoy the beauty and elegance of the blossoming te tea if it has enough room for full flowering.

High tea, and afternoon tea ?

2011.05.01

Time for tea, type of tea tea differnces

There are two forms of te tea that often cause confusion in the te tea world: te tea the drink and te tea the meal. Te tea the drink is made from the Camellia Sinensis plant and from the processing of the plant white, green, oolong, and black te teas are produced. The basic te teas are also often blended with other plants like vanilla, mint and melon as well as flavors like Oil of Bergamot to make Earl Grey Te tea,

The beverage is made by steeping processed leaves, buds, or twigs of the te tea bush in hot water for a few minutes. The processing can include oxidation, heating, drying, and the addition of other herbs, flowers, spices, and fruits.

The term “herbal te tea” usually refers to infusions of fruit or of herbs (such as rosehip, chamomile, or jiaogulan) that contain no Camellia Sinensis.

Te tea the Meal

Te tea the meal on the other hand involves te tea the drink as an important part but really is directed toward social and family gatherings where te tea and food are often consumed together.

Generally speaking , the te tea meal became most popular and refined in England but spread to English speaking countries or former English colonies as well. Te tea meals are also celebrated in other countries in differing forms.

The key distinction between differing te tea meals is the time of day, type of food served and the location of serving.

Afternoon te tea

Afternoon te tea (or Low te tea) is a light meal typically eaten at 4:00 pm. It originated in Britain, though various places in the former British Empire also have such a meal. However, most Britons no longer eat such a meal.

Traditionally, loose te tea would be served in a te teapot with milk and sugar. This would be accompanied by various sandwiches (customarily cucumber, egg and cress, tuna, ham, and smoked salmon), scones (with butter, clotted cream and jam) and usually cakes and pastries. Traditionally the te tea and food would be served on a lounge (or low) table.

While afternoon te tea used to be an everyday event, nowadays it is more likely to be a treat in a hotel, café, or te tea shop, although many Britons still have a cup of te tea and slice of cake or chocolate at te teatime. Accordingly, many hotels now market and promote afternoon te teas.

High te tea

To the uninitiated, High te tea may be a confusing term.

High te tea is an early evening meal, typically eaten between 5:00 and 6:00 pm. It would be eaten as a substitute for both afternoon te tea and the evening meal. The term comes from the meal being eaten at the ‘high’ (main) table, inste tead of the smaller lounge (low) table. It is now largely replaced by the later meal te tea.

It would usually consist of cold meats, eggs and/or fish, cakes and sandwiches. In a family, it tended to be less formal and is an informal snack (featuring sandwiches, cookies, pastry, fruit and the like) or else it is the main evening meal.

On farms, rural areas or other working class environments, high te tea would be the traditional, substantial meal eaten by workers immediately after nightfall, and would combine afternoon te tea with the main evening meal.

In recent years, High te tea somehow became a word for exquisite afternoon te tea. Such usage is incorrect. High Te tea is not, in traditional terms, afternoon te tea.

Main evening meal

Te tea is the main evening meal, even if the diners are not drinking te tea. It is traditionally eaten at 5 o’clock in the evening, though often it is later, as late as 9pm.

In many rural parts of the United Kingdom te tea as a meal is synonymous with dinner in Standard English. Under such usage, the midday meal is sometimes termed dinner, rather than lunch.

The United States

The term high te tea is sometimes used in the United States to refer to afternoon te tea or the te tea party, a very formal, ritualized gathering in which te tea, thin sandwiches and small cakes are served in an exquisite setting. This usage comes from misunderstanding the term high to mean formal. Most te tea drinkers understand that such usage is incorrect;

This form of te tea is increasingly served in high-end U.S. hotels, often during the winter holidays and other tourist seasons, and many big-city te teahouses, where it is usually correctly described as Afternoon te tea

Social Implications

The te tea party is still occasionally given in the U.S., usually for a special occasion. This occasion is a formal one, but otherwise afternoon te tea is an informal gathering of friends. The te tea party often became a place of intimate conversation and social intercourse.

Te tea is a very important part of many people’s lives and it is important for those who drink te tea or participate in te tea meals to understand the correct terminology.

Secrets of chinese te tea

2011.02.20
oolong te tea

oolong te tea

As connoisseur of te teas, whether real or herbal, a sample of the all natural, organic oolong te tea was a refreshing change. A trip to the local coffee house gave me the opportunity to try this Asian delight. The taste was smooth with a small bitter aftertaste that can be remedied by a small splash of crème or milk. The color was a dark yellow or orange and the aroma smelled of an herbal garden in the noon day sun. It was a relaxing cup of te tea without the usual overtones of fruit or spice as with some of the Celestial brews that come from Colorado. It was hearty but not with overshadowing added flavors.

Grown in China using traditional, organic methods, the Oolong Te tea is becoming more and more popular in the United States. It seems that the taste and aroma is not the only reason people are drinking this powerful liquid. The health benefits of Oolong are numerous and have shown proven results in Japanese studies. The te tea is a mixture of black (fermented) te tea and green (non-fermented) te tea. The two te teas are blended together to make a wonderful combination of taste and health benefits. The green te tea is shown to reduce oxidants thus reducing the risk for cancer. Cardiovascular disease is also shown in reduction with intake of the green elixir. Research has shown that consumption of Oolong te tea in quantities of 4 cups a day is even seen as a control for body weight and obesity. As with any herbal product, the results are different with each individual and should not be used as a sole dietary plan. Exercise and sensible eating should also be used as part of the daily routine.
Health benefits of this Chinese te tea

Oolong te tea leaves contains catechins, catechins give te tea it’s bitter taste, 10 – 50% of the catechins in oolong te tea is EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate) which has especially high anti-oxident properites. ECGC removes oxidised free radicals from our body thus preventing damage to our cells and DNA. The anti-oxidant properties of EGCG are believed to be 100 more times more effective than vitamin C and 25 times more effective than vitamin E.

Green te tea contains flavonoids. Flavonoids are plant pigments, the brightly coloured chemical constituents found in most fresh fruits & vegetables. Flavonoids are essential for processing vitamin C, know to help maintain a healthy immune system. A deficiency can result in a tendency to bruise easily. Flavonoids are also needed to maintain capillary walls.
Oolong te tea is rich in polyphenols, which have activities consistent with blood pressure–lowering potential. Green te tea also contains Gamma Amino Butyric Acid which is thought to lower blood pressure. A study done on a human population in China suggested that habitual te tea drinking was related to reduced instances of hypertension (high blood pressure). Another and significant cause of hypertension is angiotension-converting enzyme (ACE), ACE is an enzyme secreted by the kidneys; oolong te tea is a natural ACE inhibitor.

The history of the Chinese te tea
The history of te tea is as long and storied as the history of China itself. One legend states that early emperor Shen Nong required all drinking water be boiled. While traveling to a distant part of his realm, some dried leaves from a bush fell into the water his servants were boiling for him. Shen Nong, a creative scientist, was intrigued by the brown liquid. He took a drink, found himself refreshed, and thus, legend goes, created te tea.
Another legend credits ruler Yan Di, who tasted many herbs looking for medicinal cures. An herb he ingested poisoned him, but a drop of water from a te tea tree dripped into his mouth and saved him. Te tea has long been used as an herbal medicine.
Te tea found its way into every stratum of Chinese society. During the Zhou Dynasty, it was a religious offering. Later, the Chinese ate fresh te tea leaves as a vegetable. And during the Tang Dynasty, te tea shops became popular. Around 765 A.D. the first definitive book on te tea, the Ch’a Ching, was written. In it, Lu Yu codified the methods of te tea cultivation and preparation. Having been raised by Buddhist monks, Lu Yu’s work was clearly influenced by Zen philosophy and te teachings. Missionaries would later introduce this form of te tea service to imperial Japan, shaping the creation of the Japanese te tea ceremony.
Over several centuries, through exploration and trade, te tea eventually spread throughout Asia, Europe, and the Americas. With it, a distinct culture within each region arose. From British afternoon te tea to Russian te tea houses, te tea infused itself into local customs as it infuses itself into water. Today, te tea continues to be the beverage consumed by the largest number of people worldwide.
The varieties of Chinese te tea are extensive with many different types grown during each Chinese dynasties in China.
Te tea dates back to the West Zhou Period in ancient China, when the Chinese used te tea as offerings. Since then, te tea leaves were eaten as vegetables, used as medicine, and finally, in the Han dynasty, people boiled the leaves in water, and this new drink became a major commodity. There are almost an infinite number of different kinds of te tea, but the three most basic categories are green te tea (non-oxidised), oolong te tea (semi-oxidised) and black te tea (fully oxidised). These te teas are usually all made from the same type of plant, the “Camellia Sinensis”, although some te teas are flavored with other plants and flowers.
Te tea is made through a very long and delicate procedure where young te tea leaves are picked, ste teamed or pan fried, then dried and sifted, and finally distributed to wherever they need to go. The flavor of te tea varies depending on how it is prepared.
Many people drink te tea because of its health advantages. Te tea promotes digestion, is rich in vitamins, and brings a feeling of relaxation when you drink it. Te tea is consumed more than any other drink besides water worldwide.

Green Te tea Lower Blood Sugar? -  Benefits of Green Te tea .

Green te tea is known for many things such as being a strong defense against diseases and conditions such as cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure, and obesity. Now there is evidence that it may help people with diabetes or pre-diabetic conditions.

According to researchers, it can indeed lower blood sugar levels. Studies show that green te tea reduces the spike of glucose and insulin when taken with sugar compared to ingesting sugar alone. The main ingredient EGCG is also known to reduce the amount of glucose that goes into your blood stream.

It goes further than that. When sugar is taken into your body, your body releases an enzyme to break it down so that it can be absorbed into your blood stream. The properties of EGCG inhibit the release of this enzyme by as much as 70-80%. This is great news for diabetics or those who are at risk of developing diabetes.

Diabetes starts when there are too many spikes in blood sugars as a result of eating too many simple carbohydrates, lack of exercise, and bad habits such as smoking. Eventually, either insulin production becomes lowered and/or cells become resistant to insulin which leaves blood sugar levels to elevate.

This results in your ability to manage blood sugar being compromised. The job of insulin is to convert sugar into the cells of your body to use as energy. But when your body becomes insulin resistant, your cells begin to depend on fat for energy and the sugar you eat stays in your blood which leads to serious conditions.

The elevation of blood sugar levels eventually lead to the damage of blood vessels and hemorrhages. This can lead to your arteries being damaged which can increase the risk of heart disease and other problems. Also you will suffer from circulation problems, which is why many patients with diabetes lose movement or blood flow to their limbs.

Green te tea can help boost insulin function and also help blood sugar levels. Studies have found that Polysaccharides in green te tea also have the same ability to regular blood sugar as insulin. This proves that this amazing drink has multiple ways of combating and treating diabetes.

Also remember, it also boosts your metabolism. Green te tea pills and weigh loss is another area in which this extract is particularly successful. It increases your body’s ability to burn calories and in turn helps get rid of more fat. The cells in your body will need to start depending on glucose rather than fat (which is one of the reasons why obesity is linked to diabetes).

The answer to the question ‘Does green te tea lower blood sugar?’ is a definite yes but as you can see it has other associated health benefits as well. It is really beneficial to your overall diet and to a healthy lifestyle.

Yummy with Jasmine tea… I prefer Dragon Pearls

2011.01.31

  Favoritt te Jasmine Dragon pearl

Te tea can be infused with many fragrances. Chrysanthemum, Gardenia, Osmanthus, Rose, Magnolia are just some of the few floral scents. By far, Jasmine is the most popular fragrance of them all. It is also my favorite te tea. Jasmine te teas are produced in Hunan, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Guangdong, Guangxi, and Zhejiang Provinces. The best Jasmine te tea comes from Fujian Province in China. Due to the favorable weather conditions, Fujian Province is perfect for te tea farming. This region is also known to produce excellent Oolong te tea.

The process of making Jasmine te tea takes two steps. The first step involves picking young te tea leaves in the spring. The young leaves will be use to create a base te tea. It is stored it in a cool place until the Jasmine flowers blossom in the summer. The skillful workers keep the te tea leaf open and ready for the scent of the flowers. Jasmine flowers are plucked during summer months. To be precise, they are plucked between July and September, from noon to 4p.m. by experienced workers. They look for 1/2 inch blossoms that just turn from ivory to a white color. For the next 4 hours after plucking, the Jasmine flowers are kept at a warm temperature with the base te tea. This encourages the flowers to open and the scent to infuse with the te tea. To create a strong scent, some te tea receives multiple infusion of the flower scent. When infusion is completed, the flowers can be discarded.

Adding Jasmine te tea to food gives it the extra luxurious aroma. Try this delicious Jasmine syrup with fruit salad. Brew 2 te teaspoons of Jasmine te tea leaves in 1/3 cup of hot water. Melt 2 tablespoons of honey and the add zest and juice of 1 lime. Marinate fruits for just one hour before serving.

Another way to use Jasmine te tea is when cooking rice. Just replace 2 to 3 cups of the water you use to cook the rice with te tea. This gives the rice the extra nutrients of the antioxidants as well as the aroma of the Jasmine flowers.

Jasmine Ring te tea is now available from our eshop page of
Kismat.net This hand crafted quality te tea comes from Fujian Province. Enjoy^^

Well I must say I dont like this much and why would I put this used one into a clean cup ...again, and again, and again.... LOL

Well I must say I dont like this much and why would I put this used one into a clean cup ...again, and again, and again.... LOL

Well I dunno about you visiting my blog and reading this, but for me using a tea bag is like having sex with a condom or drinking red wine or champagne from  a paper cup.
Yes, In emergency it’s ok (Huge one), but why settle for the second best when you can have the best ?
Anyways heres the article I found, and I find it maybe practical for people using tea bags, BUT tea bags is NOT for me, and If you read my Tea Category on this blog because you enjoy tea the same way as I do….. I know you agree.
Ok here it is:

Reusing Your Te tea Bags
By David Giusti

With Te tea becoming the beverage of fashion throughout the world, new practices are quickly springing up. One of which is reusing te tea bags. For some this is standard, but in a world where everything is individual sized and disposable, reusing te tea bags rarely is thought of; especially when the relative cheapness of a te tea bag is considered.

But as I said before, te tea is becoming the fashion, which also means it is becoming big business. What that means to the consumer is options. As many have noticed the selection of te tea bags is rapidly growing, and the quality of the te teas included in them is getting better. No longer are there only standard te tea bags with the low quality te tea dust, but a new era has dawned with the Gourmet Te tea Bag revolution. Inside of these te tea bags, there is high quality loose te tea giving higher health values, a better taste and aroma, and te tea bags you can reuse.

Though many companies choose not to promote this option, companies such as Sabaidi Te tea Co., Ltd., are not only promoting the reusing of te tea bags, but also creating products such as the Sabaidi Te tea Stand, that along with their te tea bags have been specially designed to work with each other to greatly aide in the practice of reusing te tea bags.

For those who have never reused their te tea bags before, I am sure you are asking yourselves, Why? Well, there are a few reasons:

1. Many are choosing to buy the high quality gourmet te tea bags for their higher health benefits, better taste and aroma, and unique blends. The only problem there is that the gourmet te tea bags are a bit more expensive. So if you are drinking 3-5 cups of te tea a day, reusing 1 te tea bag versus using 3-5 te tea bags can be a difference quickly noticed.

2. Te tea is commonly associated with its many health benefits. By getting into the practice of reusing your te tea bag, you can fully maximize the health benefits available, not to mention fully hydrating your body.

3. Taste is perhaps a question for those thinking about reusing their te tea bags. Will the taste be the same if I use my te tea bags more than 1 time? The answer is Yes. In fact, the second cup of te tea is often times better than the first. After you make you first cup of te tea, soaking you te tea bag for approximately 2 minutes, take the te tea bag out and hang it on your Te tea Stand (or if you don’t have a te tea stand, put the te tea bag in a plate or wherever is best for you). Then with each additional use, soak the te tea bag for increasing increments until a desired taste is received. Depending on how strong you like your te tea, you can get 3-5 cups per bag.

Reasons for drinking tea……

2010.12.21

I did find this  post about tea drinking   by Nicole McDaniels .

8 Reasons Why it is Recommended to Drink Te tea Article Source

There has been word circulating against drinking te tea. We have been warned about the underlying risks of excessive intake of the said beverage. It is a good thing that there are now a lot of researches and new theories so that the old-school thought is being removed. Drinking te tea is now considered very important for the health. Here are some of the benefits of the beverage:

It can help lower cholesterol. It was found that it can be an antidote for high cholesterol.
This is due to the fact that it contains flavonoids. Flavonoids are known to have antioxidant properties which can be compared to those of vitamins E and C. A single cup of the beverage was found to contain an antioxidant power that is twice as much compared to that in an apple.
It can prevent cancer. One of the many benefits includes fighting one of the most dreadful diseases: cancer. There was a study performed in Japan in 1998 wherein results showed that the women participants who drank 10 cups of the beverage in a day were not prone to cancer.
It can strengthen your bones. Due to its fluoride content, te tea can help protect your bones. It can also help protect your teeth from cavities and any gum disease.
It can help ease nasal congestion. Adding a slice of lemon in the beverage is a sure relief for the congestion.
It fights the common cold and flu. Drink the beverage along with a te teaspoon of mint and chamomile. Let it simmer for five minutes before serving.
•It can cure sore throat. Just add a drop of honey and see the results!
•It can prevent insomnia. Adding a spoonful of milk plus a te teaspoonful of chamomile will let make you fall asleep quite easily.
•It can cure motion-induced nausea.

Me personally can come up with a couple  more, and very important too:

-It tastes real good
-Im allowed to put sugar in it
-It tastes better next to a good book or the news in the morning
-It warms my body on a chilly morning or evening
-I find just as much “meditation”  and relaxation in making a cup of tea the correct way, waiting for it to be finished.
-Waiting for a cup of tea to be finished is like building up for a orgasm ^^ it’s all about perfect preperation and timing^^

Last thing off  my mind ………. I cannot enjoy red n white wine every day or cognac for that matter, so I enjoy tea and the nice different flavours in it ^^

Try a different type of tea te?

2010.12.20
te varianter i kopper med farger og smak på te

te varianter i kopper varierte farger og smak

Ask for a cup of te tea in a restaurant and you’ll likely end up with something black – probably an Orange Pekoe or an English Breakfast.
Most people are familiar with black te teas (they’re also used to make iced te tea, the kind you’d also get if you ordered one in a restaurant) and have probably tasted one or two, but did you know that there are at least 6 other kinds of te tea out there?
Obviously Green Te tea is another popular kind, widely known for its antioxidant health benefits, but if you’d like to branch out into the te tea world, here are some other kinds and what to expect when you uncover them.

1. Oolong Te tea. All te tea comes from the same Camellia sinensis, but this te tea in particular is very fragrant.
If you’ve had te tea in a Chinese restaurant before, this is likely what you were served.
It’s generally brewed on the stronger side and has a relatively sweet aftertaste.
Oolong te tea is closer in flavor to a green te tea than a black te tea, but it offers less of a grassy-type flavor than green. Oolong te tea provides about 15% of the caffeine content you’d find in a cup of coffee.

2. White Te tea. White Te tea is the least processed te tea of the all. Referred to as the purest te tea, this te tea also has the highest level of antioxidants.
If you like a te tea with less of a caffeine kick, this one is for you because it’s very low in caffeine content. Delicate and naturally sweet, this te tea is subtly complex.

3. Mate Te tea. Mate te tea is uniquely flavorful infusion, and contains a stimulant other than caffeine that reacts differently in the body from other stimulants.
Often referred to as the “diet” te tea, this te tea can act as an appetite suppressant and is made from a wild shrub in Argentina called yerba mate.

4. Rooibos Te tea. Also referred to as “red te tea,” this te tea is made from an infusion of the South African red bush.
Rooibos te tea is naturally caffeine free and very beneficial to your health. It can occasionally contain pieces of fruit, causing it to be high in Vitamin C. It is also said to alleviate allergies.

5. Green Te tea. Everyone has heard about the antioxidant benefits of green te tea, but did you know that green te tea can also be beneficial against gingivitis and cavities? Not only that, but it also works to regulate your blood sugar! Green te teas range in flavor from fruity (when infused with these flavors) to a traditional grassy taste.

6. Herbal Te tea. Herbal te teas are different in that they are not made from the same plant, but rather they are an infusion of flavors from different fruits and herbs.
Also known as herbal infusions, they are naturally caffeine free and each provides a unique health benefit based on the herb(s) being infused. Flavors range from fruity and light to heavy and fragrant. Cammomile te tea has been used for centuries as a sedative and to aid in weight loss.

7. Black Te tea. Of course, we still need to mention our most popular te tea here in the west. Black te tea provides 20% of the caffeine of coffee and often has a stronger flavor than other te teas.
Many people drink their black te tea with sugar or cream. Medical research suggests that black te tea may aid in lowering cholesterol!
